Data Sheet
Preparation
Ensure surface is clean, dry, and free from grease, oil, wax and dust by wiping with a cloth dampened with white spirit. If you are preparing bare wood, sand smooth and remove dust. If you are varnishing on a previously coated surface, remove any loose or flaking material and grease, then sand smooth and remove dust. Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead. Contact the Blackfriar Technical Services Department for further advice. Avoid dust inhalation by wearing a suitable protective face mask when dry sanding.
Application
Test on an inconspicuous area prior to use to ensure you will get the required shade. Always stir thoroughly before and occasionally during use. The varnish will appear cloudy when wet but will quickly dry to your chosen shade. Use a good quality brush. Apply the varnish evenly using light strokes and following the grain of the wood. Before the final coat, lightly rub down and wipe with a slightly damp cloth. Allow to dry. For best results, apply 3-4 coats.
COVERING CAPACITY 1 Litre will cover approximately 13m square.
